2009 Blondes vs Brunettes Flag Football Fundraiser
To benefit the Alzheimer's Association Saturday, November 14 ,2009
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTED THIS YEAR'S 2009 BLONDES V BRUNETTES GAME!
On Saturday, November 14th, Team Brunettes beat Team Blondes with a final score of 13-0 securing their 5th year winning domination on the field. Both teams played a great game.
Sports? It's not exactly their thing. Sure, their hand-eye coordination is superb – when it comes to painting their toenails. But when it comes to fundraising, these women never fumble.
Since 2005, Blondes vs. Brunettes has raised nearly $150,000 for the Alzheimer's Association National Capital Area Chapter. This unique charity has brought some of Washington, D.C.'s most prominent young women leaders together to raise awareness about the disease – sometimes occurring in individuals as young as 30 – and funds for the Chapter so that it may continue to provide services and programs – at no or low cost – to area residents.
Other cities have followed Washington, D.C.'s lead and in just five years, the event has raised nearly $500,000 for the Alzheimer's Association. Now in it's fifth year, Blondes vs. Brunettes has sparked other Alzheimer's affiliated young professional groups in cities around the country to host their own flag football games.
"We know that this game won't cure anyone today, tomorrow, or even the day after that," said Ryan Triplette, BvB organizer. "But as this game grows with participants and donors and in cities around the country, it will raise awareness and commitment to finding a cure. It is our hope and firm belief that, one day, we will all become Champions because we will find a cure for the disease." The success of Blondes vs. Brunettes is apparent and now a highly anticipated annual fundraising event for the Alzheimer's Association. An unprecedented goal of $100,000 has been set for the 2009 DC game. With your help, they can get there. ALL fundraising for this event is due on or by Tuesday, December 15, 2009.
Players for this year's re-match include women from wide variety of professions; and all demonstrate leadership, special skills, notable contributions, and unmatched dedication, passion and spirit to help make the impossible, possible.
